A whiteboard is the cheapest tool in your shop and for a lot of guys it works fine. Three machines, one guy whos been running them since 1998. Fine. Leave it alone.

Once you hit two shifts or your lead needs to check a job from his phone at 7pm or youve got four sharpie notes that just say "Johnson" and you cant remember which Johnson, the whiteboard turns into a liability. Lost jobs cost real money. Happens to every shop that grows past a certain point.
